Airbus A380-861 manufacturer serial number 11 took to the skies for its maiden flight on September 4, 2007, under the test registration F-WWSH. Fitted with four Engine Alliance GP7270 powerplants, the double-decker giant represented a monumental milestone for both Airbus and Emirates. Handed over to the Dubai-based carrier on July 28, 2008, and arriving home in Dubai the following day, it registered as A6-EDA and formally entered aviation history as the very first Airbus A380 delivered to Emirates, heralding an era where the carrier would become the definitive global operator of the Superjumbo.

Throughout its nearly 12-year operational career, A6-EDA became a flagship ambassador across Emirates' rapidly expanding intercontinental route network. The airframe completed its inaugural long-haul commercial showcase to New York JFK in August 2008 and went on to accumulate an astonishing 55,863 flight hours over 6,319 flights. Operating high-density and premium international sectors to 62 worldwide destinations, it carried more than 2.1 million passengers, serving as a cornerstone in establishing Emirates' reputation for onboard luxury, spacious three-class cabins, and iconic upper-deck amenities.

The aircraft's operational journey came to an abrupt halt with the onset of the global COVID-19 pandemic in early 2020, which crippled worldwide long-haul aviation demand. Formally retired from commercial service in April 2020, A6-EDA was transferred to Dubai World Central (Al Maktoum International Airport) to begin decommissioning. Rather than resting in long-term preservation, the pioneering airframe was entrusted to Falcon Aircraft Recycling, where it underwent a comprehensive deconstruction and upcycling initiative. While structural materials were returned to industrial supply streams, portions of its fuselage skin were repurposed into limited-edition aviation collectible tags, ensuring that the legacy of Emirates' inaugural superjumbo lives on in private collections around the world.
